Croissant French Toast

Using croissant bread adds an extra layer of richness and flakiness, making the French toast even more indulgent. The combination of the crispy, buttery exterior and the soft, fluffy inside must take it to another level. Every bite combines the light crunch of the exterior with the cloud-like texture of the center. It's a perfect balance of richness and tenderness, enhanced by the croissant’s buttery flavor. Topped with syrup or fresh berries, it’s a decadent twist on a classic, perfect for any indulgent morning.

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of bread (preferably Private Select Croissant Loaf)

  • 1 large eggs

  • 1/4 cup milk (or cream for a richer taste)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)

  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional, for a sweeter taste)

  • Olive oil for frying

  • Toppings: powdered sugar, maple syrup, fresh fruit, whipped cream (optional)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the batter: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. If you prefer sweeter French toast, add the sugar to this mixture.

2. Dip the bread: Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a bit of butter or oil. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, letting it soak on each side for a few seconds. Make sure the bread absorbs the mixture but isn’t too soggy.

3. Cook the French toast: Place the soaked bread slices onto the hot skillet or griddle. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy on the outside. Adjust heat if necessary to avoid burning.

4. Serve: Remove from the skillet and serve immediately. Top with your favorite toppings like powdered sugar, syrup, fresh berries, or whipped cream.

Enjoy your homemade French toast!
